Teen Badminton
The Teen Badminton Development Programme is meticulously
designed to provide aspiring young players with a comprehensive and structured
approach to mastering the sport of badminton. Over the course of 11 weeks,
participants will embark on a journey that encompasses skill development,
strategic gameplay, and competitive match experience. Each week focuses on a
specific aspect of badminton, ranging from foundational techniques such as
serving and stroke development to advanced strategies and mental resilience.
Through a combination of expert coaching, tailored training sessions, and
engaging gameplay scenarios, participants will have the opportunity to refine
their skills, enhance their understanding of the game, and ultimately, elevate
their performance on the court. This programme aims to cultivate a supportive
and dynamic learning environment, fostering teamwork, camaraderie, and a
passion for badminton among participants.
Foundation Basics
This session will introduce teen badminton players to the foundational aspects of the sport, ensuring a solid understanding of the game’s basic principles and rules.
Serve Mastery
Participants will focus on mastering the art of serving the shuttlecock, incorporating techniques and strategies to achieve precise and effective serves.
Forehand Technique
This week will concentrate on refining the forehand stroke, emphasising proper grip, swing, and follow-through to enhance shot accuracy and power.
Backhand Development
Participants will delve into developing their backhand stroke, focusing on technique refinement and integrating this essential shot into gameplay situations.
Footwork Agility
This session will emphasise footwork agility and movement patterns, ensuring participants can navigate the court efficiently and respond effectively during matches.
Net Play Skills
Participants will focus on enhancing their net play skills, mastering techniques such as net shots, drives, and volleys to dominate the frontcourt during matches.
Smash Power
This week will concentrate on developing smash power and technique, equipping participants with the skills to execute powerful and accurate smashes during gameplay.
Defensive Strategies
Participants will delve into defensive strategies and positioning, ensuring they can effectively counter opponents’ shots and maintain control during rallies.
Drop Shot Precision
This session will focus on mastering the drop shot, emphasising technique and precision to execute deceptive and strategic shots during matches.
Game Strategy
Participants will concentrate on developing game strategies and tactics, equipping them with the knowledge to adapt their gameplay and exploit opponents’ weaknesses.
Match Preparation
This week will emphasise match preparation and mental resilience, ensuring participants are mentally and physically prepared to compete in structured matches.
Tournament Showcase
In the concluding session, participants will compete in a
structured badminton tournament, applying the skills and strategies acquired
throughout the program and showcasing their abilities in a competitive setting.
We ask your child/teen to bring the following to all workshops:
* Pens & pencils as well as sharpeners and rubbers
* Note book
* Water bottle
* Snacks for breaks (no sweets please)
We also ask your child/teen to bring the following club specific items:
* Comfortable and appropriate clothes and footwear for workout/gym use
Workshop Leader

Greg is a seasoned academician with over 15 years of extensive experience in teaching maths, basic sciences and history. He has earned a first degree in Science. Greg served as a teacher for the Brighton and Hove Museum service, where he conducted sessions on science, history, as well as natural history to visiting student groups at Brighton Museum, Booth Museum, and Hove Museum. His commitment to education is further reinforced by his participation in immersive experiences, such as portraying The Prince Regent at the Royal Pavilion, Mr. Fogg at Phileas Fogg's World of Adventures and serving as the Captain during the Titanic Experience.View all posts
